Poker Run to Benefit

We are very fortunate living in the Tampa Bay area to encounter military heroes every day. We know that everyone appreciates all the sacrifices and dedication these men and women make for us and our country. Sometimes these heroes need our help. Liberty Manor serves one of the most deserving yet overlooked individuals in our community – the homeless veteran. Liberty Manor was organized in 2006 to promote the developmental and social needs of veterans who have served our country and fought for our independence – but have fallen victim to homelessness.

Rolling Thunder Florida Chapter 11 is partnering with Pasco County area businesses, vendors, and veteran-centric clubs to host a Poker Run to benefit the Liberty Manor program. The cost to provide housing for a veteran is approximately $500 a month. Our objective is to raise enough to sponsor a veteran’s rent for at least six months and we are asking for the community’s help.

On August 14, 2011 riders will descend upon the Baldomero Lopez State Veterans’ Nursing Home in Land-O-Lakes to take part Rolling Thunder Florida Chapter 11’s Poker Run to benefit Liberty Manor. Riders will purchase a poker hand for $15 (passengers $10) and draw their first card at the nursing home. From there, they will ride some of Pasco County’s country roads and make four more stops, collecting and additional card for their poker hand at each stop. The final destination will be Pappas Ranch Steakhouse and Bar on Highway 54 in Odessa.

We are offering you an opportunity to be an important part of this event – to help sponsor a veteran who has fought for our freedom, yet slipped through the cracks and has become a member of the homeless population. Your gift will be used to help cover the cost of housing and rehabilitating veterans that have fallen on hard times. All proceeds after expenses will go directly to the Liberty Manor program.

We ask that you consider one of our levels of sponsorship. Of course, any amount that you contribute will help a veteran in need. Our levels are:

• Gold: $1,000 – Plaque – Acknowledgement at the event – Shared advertising on flyers and printed media – Banners at starting and ending locations – Linked Logo on our web site
• Silver: $500 – Certificate of Appreciation – Acknowledgement at the event – Linked Logo on our web site
• Bronze: $250 – Certificate of Appreciation – Acknowledgement at the event – Acknowledgement on our web site
